Your Perfect Self Image

For several weeks we have been blogging about, “The Secrets to Permanent Weight Control” and I sincerely hope you’re using and enjoying them. This week I am blogging about a topic that is actually another “Secret to Permanent Weight Control” but goes much, much further.  “Your Perfect Self Image”.

Possibly the most important thing in your life is…how you see yourself!

A while ago I received a sweet picture of a fine-looking kitten looking into a full-length mirror.  The reflection in the mirror showed a handsome, regal, full grown lion!  That, to me, said a mouthful.

Have you ever seen, or have been, a little girl pushing a baby buggy?  What picture do you think that young person has in her mind?  What is her “Perfect Self Image”?  And take a wild guess as to where that person will probably be some day as an adult.  You guessed it, most likely a mom pushing her baby in a baby buggy!

How about a young person, swinging a baseball bat, or throwing a football, where might that young one end up someday?  Very likely on a team, earning a scholarship or maybe even going on to be a professional sports personality!

What is Your Perfect Self Image?  Do you look in the mirror and still see the little pussycat  (or perhaps an extremely overweight one)?  Or are you the one seeing the lion, the ideal way you can be.

My mentor taught me that he did not see people as they were, but he saw them as they can be.  When persons come to me to make permanent lasting changes in their lives, I make a point of seeing them in their greatest splendor and teaching them to do the same.  Do you want to be a certain weight, then see yourself already there, eating and moving your body the same way you will at your ideal weight!  Do you want more money?  Then see yourself already there!  Do you really want to be happy?  Then see that picture clearly in your mind, NOW!  When do you want that change to begin?  Then see yourself there in your mind now!

Here is another piece that will make Your Perfect Self Image work even better and faster!  Add more dimensions to Your Perfect Self Image!  What do I mean by that?  How would you feel if you already were where you want to be?  What would it sound like if you already were where you want to be?  What would you say to yourself and where would your eyes be looking if you were already where you want to be?  Where would your shoulders be?  How would you breathe if you were already where you want to be? What expression would be on your face if you were already the person you want to be?

This is also known as the Mind/Body/Connection!  See in your mind what you want for your body and for your life and let the connection begin!  Enjoy “Your Perfect Self Image!” If you have any questions or would like some help, visit my website at www.AskAHyp.com  or feel free to give me a call at 303-979-5498.

“How to Control Emotional Eating” aspect 3- Facial Muscles

Emotional eating is a huge problem and now you are getting clarity about what causes it and how to control it.  Again, there are three aspects to emotional eating; number one is breathing and always will be.  In our last blog we covered, Secrets to Permanent Weight Control-Part III -“How to Control Emotional Eating” aspect 2-Eye Movements.  In this blog we are covering the third and final aspect, Secrets to Permanent Weight Control-Part IV -“How to Control Emotional Eating” aspect 3-Facial Muscles.

You will find this to be every bit as amazing, a lot of fun and you will feel tons better!Previously I wrote about a science called, “Neuro-Linguistic Programming” or “NLP”.  More specifically I talked about eye movements.  Now I want to talk about your facial muscles and how that effects emotional eating, too.

Your face contains around eighty muscles.  These muscles are attached to ligaments that lead to your heart.  When you get stressed your jaw tightens.  In turn the valves to your heart close and adrenalin is pumped into your bloodstream.  Adrenalin puts your nervous system into the fight or flight syndrome.   Your heart races, and your subconscious mind knows that too much adrenalin will kill you!  (You may have heard of people being “scared to death”).

Your subconscious mind’s primary function or purpose is…to keep you alive!  So when your subconscious feels that there is too much adrenalin being pumped into your blood system, it will do something to help you “turn it off!”  Your subconscious mind looks through all of your memories in a heartbeat to find some way to make you smile.  “I know, I will get you to eat because as soon as you start eating, you have to smile!”  (Try eating with a frown on your face.  Your teeth won’t line up and the food will fall out of the corners of your mouth!)

As soon as you release your jaw and smile, you turn off the adrenalin, and you begin pumping endorphins into your brain!  Endorphins make you feel really good!  Try it right now.  Release your jaw and put a smile on your face and see how you feel!  Now doesn’t that make you feel better?

Try smiling and releasing your jaw whenever stress occurs and you will find that the stress (and the emotional eating) will disappear!  Anyone can smile when they win the Lottery!  It takes proper programming of your mind to do it when life isn’t always going the way you want it to.

Are you ready to eliminate your emotional eating?  Then Remember to:  Look Up With Your Eyes, Release Your Jaw and Smile, and…Take a Deep Breath!

“How to Control Emotional Eating” aspect 2-Eye Movements

Secrets to Permanent Weight Control-Part III

Emotional eating is one of the biggest problems overweight people have and now you are getting clarity about what causes it and how to control it!  Again, there are three aspects to emotional eating; number one is breathing and always will be. We covered that in, Secrets to Permanent Weight Control-Part II, “How to Control Emotional Eating” aspect one, breathing in my last blog.  This blog is, Secrets to Permanent Weight Control-Part III -“How to Control Emotional Eating” aspect 2-Eye Movements.

For years, I have studied and have become quite proficient in a science called, “Neuro-Linguistic Programming” or “NLP” for short.  I have taught NLP to companies and individuals in all walks of life including personal trainers, weight control councilors, therapists and doctors.

One significant aspect of NLP is the study of human eye movements.  Science has determined that the direction we move our eyes triggers or accesses different portions of our brains.  When you look down, you trigger the kinesthetic portion of your brain, your feeling center. You begin to engage such feelings as boredom, hunger and depression.  Have you ever been bored, hungry or depressed, or have you known some who has?  What direction were you or that other person looking?  You were looking… down!  So here’s an interesting phenomena that I discovered years ago that has helped countless people instantly turn off their appetite, ease boredom and help decrease the feelings of depression.   In plain English, it will “short circuit” your emotional eating.  LOOK UP WITH YOUR EYES!

When you look up with your eyes you will access the visual recall and visual creative portions of your brain!  It’s really hard to feel hungry when you are busy being visually creative and/or are visually remembering something!

Some of us drive taller vehicles.  When you are driving a taller vehicle it is necessary to look down to watch out for traffic.  This “looking down” will also trigger an increase in your appetite.  By the time you get home you will be amazed at how hungry you will be!

Some people enjoy watching television, and their television screen is at a lower elevation than their normal line of sight.  They become very hungry and eat like crazy when they are watching TV!

Sometimes clients tell me that they are eating because they are bored.  Looking down will cause a person to be very bored.

Because of concerns about gravel, ice and the movement of concrete, many people find that they prefer to look down while they are walking in order to protect themselves.  I know, I do it often myself.  This, too, can trigger the feelings of boredom, hunger and depression.

So, what’s the solution?  Remember that when you look down you will become tired, bored, hungry and in some cases rather depressed.  Looking up will short-circuit all of that!  In fact, it even says in many chapters of both the Old and New Testament, “And they looked to the heavens (they looked up) and they were inspired” (they were breathing in!).

Would you like to eliminate emotional eating?  Then Look Up With Your Eyes and remember to…Take a Deep Breath!

“How to Control Emotional Eating”-Breathe

In these writings, I thoroughly intend on giving you the secrets you have been searching for, so you can make it simple and easy, and have it last for a lifetime.

Emotional eating is one of the biggest problems overweight people have and no one has ever taken the time to clarify what causes it and how to fix it.  That is until now.  There are three aspects to emotional eating; this part is the biggest but the other two or also very important.

Think about this question for a moment:  “What is the most important thing in your life?”

After zooming through every possible answer on the planet, I believe you’ll discover that the most important thing in your life is… breathing.  Now think about it.  Is there really anything more important to you in your life than breathing?  If you are not breathing, does anything else really matter?

Now, become aware of the most important purpose or function of your subconscious mind… to keep you alive!  Normally, you do not have to think about breathing, your heart beating or your blood flowing, correct?  Why?  Because you’re subconscious mind takes care of it for you!

When it comes to your breathing, there are only two ways that you breathe.  One is nice and rich and deep, which I call “natural” breathing.  Watch a brand new baby for a moment.  You will notice that the baby breathes from its diaphragm.  When the baby breathes in its stomach moves out and when the baby breathes out the baby’s stomach pulls in.

The other way you breathe is what I call “emotional” breathing, which is either rapid, shallow or you hold your breath.  You have both positive and negative emotions.  Imagine for a moment that you just won the Lottery.   That’s really exciting and you’re breathing gets extremely rapid and shallow and your heart races.  Now imagine you just heard some very sad, bad or scary news.  What happens to your breathing?  Again, maybe rapid, maybe shallow or maybe you even hold your breath.  And you may find your heart racing.

When your subconscious mind sees that you are breathing too rapid, too shallow or you are holding your breath and your heart is racing way too fast, it will look for some way to get you to breathe nice and rich and deep or what I call naturally.  Your subconscious mind looks through every memory in your life in a fraction of a second to find the answer to, “How can I get him/her to breathe nice and rich and deep to help calm them down, right now?”

The answer comes back, “I know, I will get them to eat, because as soon as they are done eating they will sit back and take a deep breath.”  It’s true.  Some people even call it “comfort food.”  The next time you get done eating, you will laugh because you will sit back and take that deep inhale and think of this article and me!

Do you want to control emotional eating?  Then start taking deep breathes from your diaphragm before you eat and you will never have to eat in order to breathe.  If you were emotional all the time, then you would have to eat all the time in order to breathe.  Big problem.

If you are a person who is caught up in some emotion or emotions, then call me or some other compassionate person trained in helping people resolve their emotions and you will be able to control your breathing better and never need food to help you breathe.

Secrets to Permanent Weight Control

Having lost 67 pounds, having kept it off for over 38 years and having helped thousands of others lose weight and keep it off, I have found many secrets to making PERMANENT WEIGHT CONTROL fun, easy and long lasting.  Perhaps you will find this information interesting, useful and helpful.

One of the basic mistakes made by people who want to lose weight is they pick a “range” for what they believe they want to weigh.  I saw a client today who wrote that she wanted to weight 135-150.  This will never work!  Your brain does not know what it means to weigh 135, 136, 137, 138, 139, 140, 141, 142, 143, 144, and 145 all at the same time. The subconscious mind, which controls your behaviors and outcomes, only works in specificity.  So, be specific!  Choose the weight that is best for you and intend it!

(I remember a picture of a donkey standing in between two bails of hay and couldn’t decide which bail to go after.  Eventually the donkey starved to death.)

Imagine taking your home thermostat and moving it up and down constantly.  What will happen?  That’s right.  The temperature in your home will go up and down.  But what will happen when you set your thermostat at, for example, 72 degrees?  You guessed it!  It will attain and maintain 72 degrees!  In your mind, you actually have what science calls your “set point”.  This is your internal thermostat that you can “re-set” to your new intention, your ideal weight.  Choose exactly what you want to weight and keep it set there.  Once you obtain your ideal weight (and consulting with your doctor is always a good idea) then decide if lighter is even better for you.  (Once your home reaches 72 degrees you might decide to reset your thermostat at 70 if it is still too warm.)

I believe most people realize that no matter what they weigh, their weight will vary up or down.  This is true.  Most people’s weight will vary by plus or minus 3 pounds.  Reasons include:  time of the month, barometric pressure, time of day you weigh yourself, even the distance of the moon to the earth will affect your weight. So do yourself a favor.  Set your “set point at your ideal weight and keep it there.  It will change your life!

Rules of Happiness

Rules of Happiness

rainbow photoWhat does it take for you to be happy? Take a moment and give it some thought. I used to think that in order for me to be happy, I needed to have x amount of money in my pocket, all my bills paid, business going good. I had to weigh a certain amount, with no aches or pains. My significant other had to be happy, and people treating me good.

Check and see what your rules are for you to be happy. What do you believe has to happen for you to feel happy?

Now see if you’ve made it easy or difficult for yourself? And be honest, because the greatest pain in life is when you go against your own values.

Why not create rules that are easy to fulfill and live by? How about, if I smile, I feel happy. If I’m alive, I feel happy. If I can be with myself or with another, I feel happy.

Change your rules so you can win the greatest game of all, the game of happiness and the game of life.

How NOT To Invent A Light Bulb

Remember Thomas Edison? If it weren’t for him we’d probably all be watching TV by candlelight. But, did you know that it took him 10,000 attempts to create the electric light bulb?

During his efforts to invent the light bulb, a reporter came to him and asked, “How many times are you going to fail at creating the light bulb?” Mr. Edison turned and looked at the reporter and said, “Son, I haven’t failed! I’ve simply discovered another way not to invent the light bulb!”

Keep in mind, the only time we fail is when we stop putting out sincere effort. Keep adjusting your approach, make finer and finer distinctions, and realize you are learning. Discover the ways that don’t work so you never have to live them again.

If you haven’t got exactly what you want in your life yet, maybe you’re on the right track, but you just haven’t discovered the light.

Wasting Time on FEAR

According to Zig Zigler, one of America’s favorite motivational speakers and authors, FEAR is an acronym which stands for “False Evidence Appearing Real.” Psychologists tell us that most of our fears are false and that worrying about them is unnecessary. Statistics show that people spend their worry time as follows:

1. Things that will never happen 40%
2. Things that are in the past 30%
3. Needless concerns about one’s health 12%
4. Petty and miscellaneous cares 10%
5. Real and legitimate concerns 8%

Of the real and legitimate fears, half of them (or about 4%) are about things we cannot influence. By taking positive steps we can eliminate about 2 percent of the real dangers we face. With these percentages, does it really pay to worry? Just do what we can about what we can and move on with our lives!

When FEAR and DOUBT knock on your door, let confidence and faith answer and they’ll find there was no one there!

Calm Down

Want to discover how to calm down quickly? Notice your internal dialogue. How fast are you talking to yourself? Does the topic change rapidly, or maybe constantly?

What are you saying to yourself and what tone of voice are you using? Are you saying something like, “Why does this always happen to me?” or “How could I be so stupid?” Do those kinds of questions empower you?

Try this: Stop your internal dialogue!!! How? Turn your awareness external! Pay attention to the sounds around you and just listen to the external.

Next feel the air going in and out of your nostrils as you breath, and your feet on the floor.

Notice and actually feel the temperature in the area right now, and experience the smells and you’ll notice that internal dialogue dwindling and perhaps ceasing.

Take control of your internal dialogue for a day and see how much calmer you become.
